Interesting thinking Kenn Franklin. In my sales career we would distinguish between lag and lead measures, a similar way of thinking I guess to what you just outlined in your personal approach. For example the lag measure would be how much you weigh, it is an outcome of how much you ate and how much you exercised over the last few weeks. The lead measures give you the outcome, so reducing you calorie intake and increasing the calories you burn in the coming weeks to influence your weight in the future.
